Yamandu Costa (*1980, Passo Fundo, Brazil) is considered one of the most outstanding guitarists of his generation and an internationally acclaimed ambassador of Brazilian music. His exceptional talent became evident at an early age; he was first influenced by his father, leader of a traditional music group, before developing a vast repertoire largely as a self-taught musician.


Costa is especially renowned for his virtuosity on the seven-string guitar. His style blends Brazilian genres such as choro, samba, and bossa nova with tango, milonga, and elements of classical music. Beyond his technical brilliance, he captivates audiences through rhythmic sophistication, spontaneous improvisation, and a remarkable range of tonal colors.
