Stefan Nitschke

Guitar maker from Marburg

Stefan was born in 1982 and discovered his passion for the guitar at the age of eleven. From that moment on, the instrument never lost its hold on him. After a short period of classical guitar training, he was drawn to the electric guitar, spending several years exploring Blues, Rock, and Jazz. However, he soon realized that he wanted more from and with the guitar. This led him back to classical guitar, where he developed a deep appreciation for Tárrega and other composers of the early 20th century.

In 2002, Stefan began his studies at the conservatory in Osnabrück under the guidance of Ulrich Müller. Not only did his teacher help refine his playing, but he also encouraged him to build his first guitar. This challenge quickly turned into a passion. His first instrument was crafted on the living room carpet at home, and both Stefan and his teacher were thrilled with the results. Eager to continue, he built his next guitar soon after.

During this time, he met Gerhard Oldiges, who allowed him to observe his work and ask countless questions. Stefan’s thirst for knowledge grew, and he soon realized that in Gerhard, he had found an experienced luthier willing to share his expertise. Countless hours in the workshop and deep discussions about craftsmanship and artistic standards shaped his understanding of high-quality instrument making.
